I have no problem with the day off to go to the funeral (any day Congress is gone is a win for America), but the extent of taxpayer involvement should be giving them directions to the nearest airport at most.

From the Washington Times:

Congress will shut down on Thursday, and leaders have told lawmakers the Defense Department will fly them to Florida for the funeral of Rep. C.W. Bill Young, who died late last week.
After passing a deal to raise the debt ceiling and reopen government, the Senate went on an 11-day vacation. The House was slated to be in Tuesday evening through Thursday but will now just be in for a day and a half, with the chief business a vote on a public works legislation.

House officials told lawmakers to be ready to leave Washington from Joint Base Andrews early Thursday to make the funeral in Largo, Fla., and then plan to return late in the evening.

A Pentagon spokesman couldn’t say how much it will cost to fly the members to Florida for the funeral.

Rumor has it the security detail has code-named the plane “Douche Force One.”

I think they’re planning to take the plane Pelosi used when she was Speaker:

I believe they used the C-17Trillion Stratospender.

That is only because Dear Leader would not negotiate with them to use Spendforce One.

Makes you wonder just how many of these Congress Creatons would attend the funeral if they had to foot the bill for their own airfare.

O/T…This is an interesting Obamacare lawsuit that a Federal Judge has "green lighted"

Also, the Daily Mail reports in the same article that only 3 of the people that appeared with Dear Leader in the Rose Garden have actually enrolled in Obamacare.

Any chance of making an accidental cargo drop over the Atlantic Ocean? Or loading them into the bomb bay of a B-52 and using them for practice duds?

"Practice duds, hell! Those are real duds!"

    Any word from SPG?

Still trying to find a job. He said he gets a day of work now and then, but it's just enough to keep from starving. He said to tell everybody hello and to keep the prayers coming.

    Thanks for the update.

O/T…Carney is feeling the heat at his latest presser:

The expression of the reporter trying to ask Carney a question as he walks out is priceless.

    Any other questions..?

After about 10,000 cold calls [conservatively] I'd learned to DREAD my prospects in middle age. All throughout the 90's called small/independent biz people from coast to coast. WHAT an education!

Then in my mid 30's it never ceased to amaze me how many guys that'd been successful all their lives struggled after a certain age. Depending on your industry, The Thinning can start as early as your 30's. In Tech., once you're over 40, you have to be in the top 10% to keep employed.

And all this played out against a) Incredible dot.com bubble, b) Housing BUST and c) Soft Coup that was SURE to follow. Like things weren't going to be difficult enough..?

Allow me to add "top 10%" as determined solely by the judgment of a clique you may or may not have been a party to? Today it was posted on Fox that Unemployment is now at "7.2%".

Even if accurately reported ( and I don't know ANY one in Finance that will vouch for the validity of that figure ) it is insanely high for the 5th year of a Recession. Hell, that's high for 5th Year Depression.

    That was hilarious!

Obama's people are now trying to change the name from "Obama-care" to "HHS-care" as well. Carney referred reporters to the HHS 10 times.

Repubs who are actually making recommendations on how to fix it need to shut up. The Dems own that turd 100%. Leave it that way.

  14. Marshall_Will on October 23rd, 2013 12:39 am

    Or delay it… or..?

Is it possible in the Drubbing That Led To The Re-Dubbing they're finding themselves forced to spin this off on Sebelius? And we needed Justice Roberts.., to bring us to this embarrassing unenviable POINT?

I don't think a plane with Pelosi's face on the front of it could fly. That face would scare all the air away and there would be none left for the wings.

  16. Truesoldier__ on October 23rd, 2013 12:36 pm

Agreed. The GOP needs to take a hands off approach to the Obamaflop. The Dems wanted it soooo bad they rammed it through with not a single GOP vote. The GOP needs to keep the taint off of them and tell the Dems that their one and only position is a full repeal and then walk away.

I would also give that advice to those in the Silicon Valley called in to fix this disaster. Sure, I know they are big time Dear Leader supporters, but they will surely be thrown under the bus when it is discovered that this turd sandwich will remain a turd sandwich no matter how many top notch chefs you bring in to try to improve the taste.
