Sometimes the Republicans point out valid issues we should be concerned about, but they often to a horrible job at “selling” their position. When it comes to this, the Right can certainly take a lesson from the Left.

I’ll hand it to the libs, they do a far better job at packaging issues to generate maximum public emotion.

Take for example President Obama releasing five terrorists from Gitmo.

How the Republicans report it: “President Obama released five terrorists from Gitmo!”

If it were a Republican president who released those five men the liberal spin machine would have a field day. Here’s how the Left would sell that same story: “The president just released five men who support hanging gays and stoning women to death for the ‘crime’ of being raped!” (“War on Women” and “rampant homophobia” two-fer!) And don’t think for a second they wouldn’t also throw out a body count, no matter if it were true or not: “These men have already killed over 1,000 people, mostly children. And they’re also global warming deniers!”

The DNC would probably even throw in stuff like this:

This is happening in Qatar right now because President Republican released the Gitmo 5:

Come on, Republicans — think it through for maximum impact.

So very true. I was just telling my wife this weekend (after we got back from grocery shopping seeing a foodstamp user purchasing T-bones, soda and candy) that if the GOP were smart they could easily reduce the cost of foodstamps and reign in the program.

All they have to do is introduce a bill in support of Mooch's "let's move". They could say that they want to see an end to childhood obesity and the first step would be to ensure the food stamp program only allowed fresh, non-processed foods. No more sugary drinks, candy or pre-packaged food stuffs. Then they could even take it a step further and say only generic products could be bought so that tax dollars are not going to pockets of greedy corporations.

If the left balks at signing on, call them racists for going against Mooches lofty goals and claim they must want to see children die.

All the bill would have to say is that states comply with these new regs (i.e. generic products, no sugary drinks, candy processed and pre packaged foods) or they stop getting any federal funds for their food stamp programs.

You insensitive lout..! Don't you know there are "food deserts" enslaving the captive, under privileged urban masses!?

Yeah, wasn't it Babies Grandma that found the food stamp debit receipt for over $100 bucks worth o' LOBSTER and Mountain Dew..? Weez gonna' partaaaay.

Have to say, eating healthy isn't always the easiest thing. Supermarket walls are *packed* w/ garbage. Once you venture past the produce section ( you're kind of on your own )

Making changes is no piece of cake. Our eldest daughter ( Ms. Fitness ) got us started on "Hungry for Change" outlining the deceptions of food marketers. Some of the claims are made in hysterical fashion but the fact remains, we're slowly poisoning ourselves. All done w/ the same cynical/contemptuous tactics The Professional Left loves so well.

No sooner do consumers/voters catch on to the deceptions and they're re-labeling across the board. Much as local gov's are learning about Agenda 21/ICLEI etc. Nothing a hasty splash-over couldn't fix! It's for their own good..?

Not just relabeling, but adding "new and improved" to the new label and adding a few cents more to the price to boot.

Now that the Taliban know what a pushover Obama is, they're looking forward to doing business with him again. "And we're going to Gitmo than five next time."

That was me Marsh – it happened up in Iron Mountain, Michigan. At least those involved were punished – but the theft continues.

And look at the Hitlary gaffe about being dead broke when they left the WH. Seems even an $8 million book advance wasn't enough to buy houses and she was bitch!ng about the high taxes that comes with that kind of income. I would love to see some dolt in the "news" business try weed out the whole "dead broke" quote. They are now worth over $200 million and not a word about their "privlige" – the way they went after the Romneys. Our side just rolls over and walks away.

And BTW I have the cutest little new granddaughter here in Texas!

Congrats on the granddaughter. Always nice to hear some good news every now and then. Makes everything we fight for just that much more worthwhile.

Here is proof positive that you don't need money to win an election, you just need to identify with the constituency of the district. In this case Dave Brat has defeated Eric Cantor largely on the fact that he pointed out that Cantor is pushing for amnesty in a big way. It looks like Brat has one 56% to 44%.
