NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams was flat out busted Wednesday after being called out for spending over a decade pushing a false firsthand account of how he was supposedly on a chopper in Iraq that came under RPG fire and had to make an emergency landing. Problem is, the chopper Williams was on didn’t come along until much later and was never under fire. Somehow though that evolved into a harrowing wartime tale that Williams recounted for many people, including David Letterman.

From the WaPo:

NBC News anchor Brian Williams conceded on Wednesday that a story he had told about being under fire while covering the invasion of Iraq in 2003 was false.

Williams said he was not aboard a helicopter that was hit by enemy fire and forced down — a story he retold as recently as last week during a televised tribute to a retired soldier during a New York Rangers hockey game.

On “NBC Nightly News” Wednesday evening, Williams read a 50-second statement apologizing for his characterization of the episode.

“After a groundfire incident in the desert during the Iraq war invasion, I made a mistake in recalling the events of 12 years ago,” he said. “It did not take long to hear from some brave men and women in the air crews who were also in that desert. I want to apologize. I said I was traveling in an aircraft that was hit by [rocket-propelled grenade] fire. I was instead in a following aircraft. .?.?. This was a bungled attempt by me to thank one special veteran and, by extension, our brave military men and women, veterans everywhere, those who have served while I did not.”

Yeah, you know how it was when you were never on a helicopter that was under fire in a war zone but you get confused and thing you were, right? Me neither. Watch for Williams’ fellow MSMers to go to unprecedented lengths to explain away his bullshit story.

Williams has in the past mocked the integrity of “bloggers” and such, so I’ll keep my inaccurate and unreliable opinions to myself.

Here’s another harrowing tale from Williams:

Like I said, the MSM will give Williams cover, but he should really be asked this:

How do you think he covered the Hitlary lie about taking sniper fire in Bosnia?

    Cdr. McWilliams.., your aeroplane awaits!

Too funny Doug. What a great way to bitzsl@p a water carryin' prettyboy AND reconnect w/ your childhood in one fell swoop!

I think it was Sinbad the comedian that debunked Hillary's claim from the git-go. He said he was thing "about what they were going to serve for lunch!" They just keep swiftboating THEMSELVES. How cruel of us to bring it up?

Been checking blogs, news sites, etc all day long. Hmmmm – he used, abused, inflated and out right lied about what happened. And his snide comments about "just bloggers" seems to have bit him in the ass. Those same bloggers have him telling those whoppers and it is forever embedded – he can't disown what he said. And the other thing that gets me is every time he regales someone he puts himself more and more in the spot light with a flippant thanks to the troops at the end of the tale. And now a couple more questionable stories are coming out about his reporting during Katrina and perhaps some whoppers told on that front. Seem Brian Williams has dug himself quite a hole. Will see if NBC helps dig him out or just buries him to make it all go away.

I say the only way he survives is if he tells the truth – the whole truth about Fast and Furious, The IRS scandal, DOJ shenanigans, Benghazi truth – spill it all Brian! Instead of turning a blind eye to these scandals – spill the beans! Maybe, just maybe you can save your sorry ass.

Fast & WHAT? Chances are what little he's been exposed in that ( rather DARK ) 'realm' are from within the same ( rather limited ) echo chamber/ivory tower in which he resides.

LIV's would be better off getting their 'news' from the co-LIV's in the checkout of their local convenience store! At least it wouldn't be intentionally misleading.

"Four weeks after the storm, The Times-Picayune published an article noting that many of the most shocking stories that had been reported by media outlets across the world — reports of widespread violence and babies being killed, raped or trampled — **had no apparent basis in fact**". ( emphasis mine )

Really makes me begin to wonder about all those Soledad O'Brien reports of "the indescribable stench!" Having been stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS the Gulf Coast has an aroma all its own. And I've no doubt Katrina changed that. But the mental images the MSM were trying to evoke placed it on a parallel w/ Auschwitz or Buchenwald.

Couldn't find the article but last night Drudge featured a link from The National Journal explaining why much of our hand wringing over what Dim's felt was a "new, permanent 'majority' " have been largely unwarranted.

While it's true, Dims continue to bolster the support of minorities, particularly in large metros, they've also begun an alarming trend of LOSING the [formerly] reliable votes of White, middle, lower and UPPER class! A trend many of us hoped would not wait until *2016* to make itself apparent?

It only makes SENSE. At the end of the day, working is WORKING and milking is MILKING. Welcome and join the band! ( you floozies ) Got one foot out the door but if anyone can locate, please repost w/ my gratitude in advance!

Cuomo on CNN this morning – almost let slip – that all news people probably do this with the exception of himself – gag! You would think an episode like this would wake them up and send them in the direction of reporting the news instead of reading demoncrap talking points and passing it off as news – but it ain't gonna happen. They are entrenched in the liberal utopia just like their liberal "heros" in D.C.

As you noted it really is no surprise. Anytime a political party tries to play favorites and decide whom is going to get the bennies due to the labor of others it is bound to cause them to lose favor elsewhere. The dems bet the farm that there would be enough illegals to cover the loses. It is beginning to look like they lost that bet.

And it is only going to get worse as more stories come out. Like this one:

"amnesty bonuses" in tax code: Illegals to receive up to three years of back EITC credit.

On one hand you have the IRS Commish threatening the delay of tax returns of American citizens due to budget cuts and on the other hand the same Commish is saying that illegals can amend up to three previous years tax returns for EITC(filed illegally with phony tax documentation) which could result in amounts that could exceed $24,000 per illegal filer.

    Ain't corruption grand?

  12. Marshall_Will on February 7th, 2015 11:10 pm

That really leapt out at me. The IRS has boundless energy, resources [and venom] to go after their core revenue stream, self-employed and middle class Americans that weren't 'digging' Obama's scene, but…, suddenly go flaccid when it comes to enforcement on their intended level?

So they're basically legalizing TAX FRAUD. Spot on, the National Journal's article touched on that "swing aspect" you mentioned and you're RIGHT. Every violent swing of party's past fortunes were predicated on…, wait for IT! Spinning the Wheel of Determining Winners & Losers. ( Republicans controlled the Hill for the 35 years prior to the Great depression.

Putting resources into a powerful protection arrangement can have a considerable effect on your home's general execution. While conventional protection materials can give some warm solace, present day protection arrangements, for example, shower froth protection.
