The Clintons personally paid an IT worker from the State Department to set up and maintain their secret email server, and you just knew this spin was coming from her campaign:

The unusual arrangement helped Clinton retain personal control over the system that she used for her public and private duties and that has emerged as an issue for her campaign. But, according to the campaign official, it also ensured that taxpayer dollars were not spent on a private server that was shared by Clinton, her husband and their daughter as well as aides to the former president.

The Clintons running a pay-to-play “foreign donations to the Foundation for State Department favors” scheme through a secret server set up by a guy who is now pleading the Fifth was a service to the taxpayers! MSM, you have your marching orders!

I think this is definitely an amazing project here. So much good will be coming from this project. The ideas and the work behind this will pay off so much.

It depends on what the meaning of "responsible" is.

Forget about her claim that she didn't use taxpayer money to pay to have her server set up (if you really believe that I have some property on Mars I am looking to unload), here is the bigger monetary cost of Hillary's server to the taxpayers:

The U.S. State Department plans to move about 50 workers into temporary jobs to bolster the office sifting through Hillary Clinton's emails and grappling with a vast backlog of other requests for information to be declassified, officials said on Tuesday.

The move illustrates the huge administrative burden caused by Clinton's decision to use a private email address for official communications as secretary of state and a judge's ruling in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit that they be released."

So because Hillary used her own server the State Dept has had to shift employees from other tasks to sort through it all. How much you want to bet these 50 were hand picked to ensure the sorting ensures a certain outcome.

Another way to look at it would be; how much rope can 50 FT employees CARRY?

As some of Doug's posters noted on the LD open thread, it's possible we've become entirely too preoccupied w/ this whole bread & circuses side show. It's keeping Conservatives bloggers and commenters busy 24/7.

All the while the Iran debacle creeps/slithers 'forward'. Thought it was interesting ML noted Liberals of the not too distant past were infinitely more focused on nuclear FREEZES not side deals that can't HELP but spread nuke proliferation?

Good point. The sad thing is that the GOP is using its typical tactics of surrendering the power of Congress, then pretending they are going to fight it. Rep Louie Ghomert introduced a bill in the House that would actually have some teeth. His bill would return the treaty power back to the Senate and treat this "deal" like the treaty it is. Basically the bill is a more of a notification to Obama to let him know that because he lied about what was in the deal and now that Congress knows what is in it (including some of the side deals) that it doesn't fall under the Cardin/Corker bill as the "deal" is a treaty. At that point it would go back to needing 2/3rds of the Senators present to pass without the threat of a veto.

Of course Boehner isn't allowing it a vote and it is starting to look like the end of his political career. There was a story in Politico stating that even allies of Boehner doubt that he can remain speaker much longer and doubt he will run for the Speakership again. There is also more movement on the vote to remove Boehner from the Speakership. So far he has avoided allowing the bill to come up for a vote, but he may not be able to much longer. More and more constituents are telling their members of Congress that either Boehner loses his speakership before the next election or they will lose their primary.
