The MSM sure was giddy over the Bernie Sanders campaign’s new ad that’s airing in Iowa, but it made me laugh out loud.

This isn’t a commercial for a socialist candidate, it’s a propaganda video for socialism:

What’s with all the cows? I thought cattle farming was a leading cause of climate change. What gives?

If Sanders were interested in being honest, which he isn’t, his campaign would have shown Americans clips of the “ghost of socialism future” his philosophy has brought to other parts of the world and could bring to the US:

Feel the Bern!

"So, Flint is the tip of the iceberg?"

Yes. Yes it IS. Locally ( in Oregon, where it rains 11 mos. out of the year ) previous, rather rosy "annual water quality reports" are doctored, well, ANNUALLY. Now cities are [predictably] employing "water quality" as a leverage point to parade their favored ploy, the False Dilemma of:

"Do you voters ( read captive taxpayers ) 'prefer' to have [another] HUGE rate increase, dedicated solely for water system improvements? Or go for the Municipal BOND underwriting to INCLUDE parks, library and sidewalks your GRAND children will still be paying off!? It's YOUR [false] 'choice'!"

    "What's with all the cows?"

Great question Doug. Do we actually need to compose a LIST of authorized people permitted to invoke images of, refer TO, infer THEIR 'interpretation' of "Who we ARE!?", play treacly sweet lyrics, display flags, bunting, apple pie, Chevy's, fireworks, military members AND?

    Basically STHU!

Marsh – I work for a company here in Michigan that deals with the DEQ on an almost daily basis. Here is an example of how things like Flint happen in our neck of the woods – lets just say that dysfunction does not adequately describe the state of government here.

DEQ employee A stops by our store and inquires about 2 GPS units – after 3 hours of time spent with our salesman – he walks out with a written quote for $1775.00 per unit – which includes a discount for government pricing under a DEQ blanket purchase order.

Last week we received a purchase order from a clearing house in New Jersey for the same two units at a price of $2300.00 each – which is full retail price – for the units that were quoted to DEQ employee A. The order was placed by DEQ employee B who decided to purchase the units thru a preferred contract with Hewlitt Packard. Hewlitt Packard did not have these items on their list of items so they put out a bid for the items and the clearing house in New Jersey got the bid and placed an order for the items with us.

So, instead of getting in a car and driving 4 miles to our store to pick up the GPS units at $1775.00 per unit they chose to go out of state to the clearing house and buying the same units – provided by us – at full retail price of $2300.00.

We contacted employee B about this purchase and were told that even though the state has a blanket purchase order with our company that affords reduced government pricing – that the Dept. of Management and Budget has cracked down on direct purchases that don't go thru preferred contractors like Hewlitt Packard. So much for looking out for the taxpayer. And this is just peanuts compared to the bigger picture.

And I can probably tell you what happened with the DEQ and the outcome of the water issues in Flint. DEQ knew in April, 2014 that the water samples were coming back questionable. But the rules for employment in Michigan government do not allow someone to override a decision, second guess a sample and if the employee(s) that were responsible for sampling/oversight are out on maternity leave, vacation, etc – no other employee can step in or take over those responsibilities for that issue. More than likely, the info was sitting on someone's desk collecting dust. Like all government agencies – there is no urgency or common sense when it comes to getting a job done. They are there to collect a paycheck and benefits – that is the bottom line. That is why it took six months for the info to come to light. Two employees were just put on suspension without pay for their roles in what happened – except that according to state employee rules they can only be on unpaid suspension for 7 days. So no one will be held accountable and the government merry-go-round continues on it's merry way!

And our (R) governor (who is actually a democrat) just created another layer of bullsh!t by appointing a commission to look into what happened.

    "Feel the Bern!"

I think they make a cream for that.

Doug, love the compare and contrast of Bernie's Soshallism propaganda video with what real soshallism looks like (by the way the moderator is still eating the comments with soshallism spelled correctly). Hopefully one of the candidates or PAC's will make a commercial like that.

They could call it a "weekend at Bernie's" Soshallistic America.

"another layer of bulls!t by appointing a commission to…"

Or as MM said "another 'investigation' to nowhere". I see this almost on a daily basis but there is some cause for encouragement. It's a cultural thing. When you have generation after generation where financial malfeasance is the "norm", you get more of the same.

Younger G.I's are finally being indoctrinated into believing there *IS* something you can do about being raked over the coals! And we're getting them involved in the budget/purchasing process at a younger age. But no question, it's been uphill all the way…

Yep. Ate my first one out of the gate! I always preferred SPG's "sewshallism".

    Granny617, hit the mark.

Everybody that works in the government, (at least in all the various worthless Departments of whatever) is just concerned about their next paycheck.

And it's the democrats they vote for, and they could care less that they are destroying their own country. They frankly, do not care.

As long as they get their money, and their big benefits.

So, that's why the government will employ HALF the population, the other half doesn't have a chance.

It's why none of them ever worry.

Great points made by Mr. Powers…and everyone here.

It's worse than just milking out paychecks, while actually "IN" the 'office'.

Several gov agencies here in OR have gone to a telecommuting model that's just RIFE w/ exploitation. Since single moms & gov-employment ( seem to go hand in hand? ) employees are allowed to "work from home" and… there doesn't appear to be ANY yardstick as to the amount of actual productivity?

It's just another intermediate step toward, Payoffs For Party Loyalty. I assure you 100% of these workfare recipients vote Dem. I've been working w/ a number of watchdog groups locally in an effort to get the word out, before this becomes the New Normal.

Yup – had a friend that worked for the Mich DNR and she got to work from home – smoked pot all day – and virtually did NO work. Such a waste of taxpayer money. BTW – she eventually got fired believe it or not but not because of her less than stellar work performance – she accessed a confidential employee file and leaked it to a reporter. Big no-no, she sued to get her job back and low and behold the state agreed with her and she went back to work to get her time in for retirement and benefits.
