Who’s up for a Trump State of the Union rebuttal from a Kennedy warning America that the GOP is the party that only cares about rich white people born into privilege? The Dems are officially out of ideas:
Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-Mass.) has been selected to deliver the Democratic Party’s response to President Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night, party leaders announced.
Kennedy, the great-nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, is a 37-year-old rising star in the Democratic Party and is currently serving his third term as a Massachusetts congressman.
“Congressman Kennedy is a relentless fighter for working Americans,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in a statement.
“While President Trump has consistently broken his promises to the middle class, Congressman Kennedy profoundly understands the challenges facing hard-working men and women across the country,” she added.
Well who wouldn’t “understand the challenges facing hard-working Americans” better than a Kennedy?
You’ve gotta love the libs’ definition of what’s “immoral”: Tax cuts and not wanting to kill babies after an age they could survive outside the womb. Hopefully the DNC makes those the two biggest planks in their platform.
New Jersey and Connecticut are joining New York in planning to sue Washington over the Republican-led federal tax overhaul, the Democratic governors of the three states announced Friday.
Andrew Cuomo of New York, Dannel Malloy of Connecticut and Phil Murphy of New Jersey announced Friday that they’re talking to leaders of other states that stand to be hurt by the federal tax plan that’s expected to cost taxpayers in their states billions of dollars.
“We’re going to be working together to form a multi-state coalition to challenge this in court,” said Cuomo, a potential 2020 White House contender who announced his intention to challenge the tax overhaul earlier this month.
Good luck with that, Dems! That’s right up there with Hillary going to coal country before the 2016 election and pledging to put a lot of people in the industry out of jobs. Do the Democrats really wonder why they lost power?
Those Dems would rather destroy the reason workers are getting more money back in their paychecks than explain to their wealthier constituents why their state taxes are so ridiculously high and nobody else is going to subsidize them anymore.
Accusors should be “heard, believed and supported.” Clinton left off a fourth option (for her staff only): Or reassigned to a different job while giving the accused offender a slap on the wrist:
Hillary Clinton, over the advice of staff, chose to retain a top aide to her 2008 presidential campaign despite a fellow staffer leveling multiple allegations of sexual harassment against him, The New York Times reported Friday. The aide, Burns Strider, was Clinton’s faith adviser during her first presidential run.
Clinton’s 2008 campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle apparently implored the candidate to dismiss Strider, who was accused by a 30-year-old woman working on the campaign of “[rubbing] her shoulders inappropriately, [kissing] her on the forehead, and [sending] her a string of suggestive emails,” The New York Times reported. But Clinton “said she did not want to” fire Strider, the Times reported, and he instead was kept on the team but forfeited “several weeks of pay” and was made to seek counseling. The woman who made the complaints — who had shared an office with Strider — “was moved to a new job,” the Times said.
It’s almost like she is and always has been a total hypocrite!
By the way, we have an anniversary to celebrate today:
Twenty years ago today, President Clinton told the world: “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” https://t.co/GVoWM6H8PK
You’ve got to hand it to California’s progressive politicians for their ability to keep everything in its proper perspective:
Ian Calderon wants restaurateurs to think long and hard before giving you a straw.
Calderon, the Democratic majority leader in California’s lower house, has introduced a bill to stop sit-down restaurants from offering customers straws with their beverages unless they specifically request one. Under Calderon’s law, a waiter who serves a drink with an unrequested straw in it would face up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
“We need to create awareness around the issue of one-time use plastic straws and its detrimental effects on our landfills, waterways, and oceans,” Calderon explained in a press release.
This isn’t just Calderon’s crusade. The California cities of San Luis Obispo and Davis both passed straws-on-request laws last year, and Manhattan Beach maintains a prohibition on all disposable plastics.
“What are you in for?”
“Grand theft auto, three counts. You?”
“Gave a dude too many straws when I was working at Denny’s.”
Here’s my favorite part of the straw usage data the California Dems used in arguing for their legislation:
Eco-Cycle is unable to provide any data to back up this number, telling Reason that it was relying on the research of one Milo Cress. Cress—whose Be Straw Free Campaign is hosted on Eco-Cycle’s website—tells Reason that he arrived at the 500 million straws a day figure from phone surveys he conducted of straw manufacturers in 2011, when he was just 9 years old.
That kid was at least probably more qualified to run a state government than these progressive loons in the legislature.
Only in California are you encouraged to order up a big batch of free hypodermic needles but your waiter might get perp-walked for bringing you a plastic straw.
Former Secretary of State John Kerry is reportedly considering a presidential run in 2020.
Kerry met with Hussein Agha, an ally of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in London where he touted the idea when discussing the Middle East’s peace process, the Jerusalem Post reported Wednesday citing Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv.
Kerry, 74, when asked about his age, said he wasn’t much older than Trump and wouldn’t have a problem.
The World Economic Forum is kicking off, and it’ll contain the usual lectures warning about our impending global warming doom caused by harmful emissions from mankind accompanied by the usual dearth of self-awareness:
More than 1,000 private jets and helicopters are expected to fly to Switzerland next week as business leaders join presidents and prime ministers for the World Economic Forum.
Bankers, advisers, lobbyists and journalists flock to the meeting in Davos every January. Those planning to take a private flight from Britain with a few friends or colleagues can expect to pay up to £27,000 for a return trip. About 200 private flights were made to the region every day during last year’s event.
Naturally, among the emergency topics being discussed by the private jet-set eco-warriors will be man-made global warming, or whatever word they’ll use for it that doesn’t sound stupid to say under several feet of snow.
What would we do without our environmentalist betters?
A thousand private jets fly in to #Davos. Avg speaker net worth – $414m. High on the agenda is #poverty, #inequality etc. It seems political elite are far removed from global 10%+ who live in extreme poverty. Extravagance of event out of touch with the real world #WEF18pic.twitter.com/SEA1vGEFOw
Before the GOP tax plan was signed into law, Nancy Pelosi warned of Armageddon, dead bodies everywhere and the world coming to a fiery end after only the super-wealthy raked in all the benefits from the tax reform bill:
Former Obama economic adviser Larry Summers put the annual GOP tax bill death toll at around 10,000. Senate Dems warned that middle class families would see tax increases under the GOP bill.
You won’t be surprised to find out that Democrats lied… again:
