It’s halftime. Both teams are in their locker room discussing what they can do to win this game in the second half.

It’s halftime in America, too. People are out of work and they’re hurting. And they’re all wondering what they’re going to do to make a comeback. And we’re all scared, because this isn’t a game.

The people of Detroit know a little something about this. They almost lost everything. But we all pulled together, now Motor City is fighting again.

I’ve seen a lot of tough eras, a lot of downturns in my life. And, times when we didn’t understand each other. It seems like we’ve lost our heart at times. When the fog of division, discord, and blame made it hard to see what lies ahead.

But after those trials, we all rallied around what was right, and acted as one. Because that’s what we do. We find a way through tough times, and if we can’t find a way, then we’ll make one.

All that matters now is what’s ahead. How do we come from behind? How do we come together? And, how do we win?

Detroit’s showing us it can be done. And, what’s true about them is true about all of us.

This country can’t be knocked out with one punch. We get right back up again and when we do the world is going to hear the roar of our engines.

Yeah, it’s halftime America. And, our second half is about to begin.

Watch below and judge for yourself. Just keep in mind that David Axelrod was moved by it, and the White House thought it made some good points. Eastwood said the ad wasn’t political in nature, at least, not to him.

Chrysler’s CEO said the ad was not political, which is total BS from a corporate perspective. When you’ve gotten several billion dollars from the government and don’t want to burn any bridges, everything is political.

Eastwood opposed the bailouts. So, why did he do the ad? Because he’s also a capitalist:

It’s halftime in America. Can taxpayers come back from a halftime deficit of $1.3 billion? No.

Bonus trivia: Footage shot specifically for Chrysler’s ad about how “Detroit is back” wasn’t even shot in Motown, but rather filmed in New Orleans and Los Angeles.

In Game Change, John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, two of the country’s leading political reporters, use their unrivaled access to pull back the curtain on the Obama, Clinton, McCain, and Palin campaigns. How did Obama convince himself that, despite the thinness of his resume, he could somehow beat the odds to become the nation’s first African American president? Judging from the just released trailer for the upcoming HBO film of the same name, in spite of the fact that a good portion of “Game Change” was about Obama, Hillary and Bill, only the last two Palin-related sentences above were worthy of making the cut (though I hear Obama does make a cameo in the brief “Hawaiian golf course” scene). In these clips it’s all Sarah bashing, all the time. I actually laughed out loud before the end. They made her such a dingy, clothing-obsessed bitch that this could be an audition for the new show “Real Housewives of Wasilla”:

Based on that, here’s an outline of what the plot appears to be: Sarah Palin was chosen as John McCain’s running mate because she had useful demographic attributes that could be exploited, but there was also a downside that McCain’s people thought they could keep in check. However, about halfway through the campaign, Palin became self-aware, turned on her creators and wreaked havoc on humanity — Skynet in heels. They should have called the movie “The Campaign Terminator.”

Watching that clip you’d almost forget that the reason John McCain lost was because of… John McCain. It’s shocking that a solid lineup of Hollywood lefties couldn’t be a little more even-handed when it comes to the story of Sarah Palin.

The disparity between the top 1 percent and everyone else has been laid bare — there’s no more denying that those at the top get their share at the expense of the 99 percent. Lobbyists, loopholes, tax breaks… how can ordinary folks expect a fair shake?

The rich try to get richer via “lobbyists, loopholes, tax breaks”… er, he left out tax evasion:

Willie Nelson is the poster boy for tax evasion. In 1990, the IRS sent him a bill for $16.7 million dollars in back taxes. Faced with this rather large debt, Willie decided to try and pay the IRS back by releasing a double album entitled The IRS Tapes: Who’ll Buy My Memories? The IRS, ever helpful, sped up the process by selling nearly everything he owned.

Lucky for Willie, his friends purchased most of the items and returned them to Willie either free of charge or for a nominal fee. He managed to pay back the IRS in only three years.

So Willie avoided taxes, was forced to work off the bill and then his upper one-percent friends bought all his stuff back for him? That’s not exactly OWS street cred, but given the level of hypocrisy in that so-called movement, Willie fits right in. Plus he’s got some really good weed, which I’m sure isn’t exactly frowned upon.

Nelson’s worth $15 million these days. He might not look like a member of the one percent, but he is — at the expense of the 99 percent of course, at least according to Willie.

The remake of Red Dawn has taken so long that it’s making Guns & Roses “Chinese Democracy” album look hastily assembled, but a release date is finally in sight:

The long stagnating Red Dawn remake looks set to finally see the light of day, with a designated release date on the horizon. According to Box Office Mojo, the film will hit screens on November 2, 2012 – three years after filming wrapped.

A big black cloud has been hanging over Red Dawn in the form of the MGM bankruptcy saga, but, as reported here in September, independent distributor FilmDistrict struck a deal to finally get the film into cinemas, not matter how long it takes.

Another reason for the delay is that the “bad guys” invading the US in the remake were going to be the Chi-Coms, but that was changed after China was offended and the movie’s producers didn’t want to lose access to a paying Chinese movie-going audience. Besides, if we’re talking about a China invasion of the US, I believe that subject matter was covered many years ago in the film “Repo Man.”

The fact that the American movie producers changed their movie villain because China was offended might be evidence that China has already taken over, which would have made the original plot ridiculously redundant, not to mention dated.

It’ll be interesting to see the movie to find out if Kim Jong Il is successful in his US invasion. The “greens” would certainly be happy, because it would be “lights out” for America… literally.

When production is finished on the “Red Dawn” remake, the producers could probably make some money selling the propaganda posters used in the movie. Tell me Organizing for America couldn’t find some use for these.
