President Obama called it “a major victory for big oil, Wall Street banks, health insurance companies and the other powerful interests that marshal their power every day in Washington to drown out the voices of everyday Americans.”

Fast forward to yesterday:

President Barack Obama’s campaign is asking top fundraisers to support a Democratic-leaning outside group that is backing the president’s re-election bid, reversing Obama’s opposition to “super” political action committees, which can spend unlimited amounts of cash to influence elections.

The reasoning for the flip:

But Team Obama argued Monday night that it cannot allow for “two sets of rules” in which the GOP presidential nominee benefits from “unlimited spending and Democrats unilaterally disarm.”

“We decided to do this because we can’t afford for the work you’re doing in your communities, and the grassroots donations you give to support it, to be destroyed by hundreds of millions of dollars in negative ads,” the President’s campaign manager Jim Messina wrote in an e-mail to supporters.

So does this pro-Obama Super-PAC mean a victory for big oil, Wall Street banks and health insurance companies… or is that just when Republicans do it?

Basically Team Obama’s stance all along was to look tough by opposing Super-PACs as long as they weren’t legal anyway. Now that Super PACs are legal, they claim to have to participate in the system in order to compete. It was a very principled stand.

Bottom line: Obama says Super PACs are okay now. So it is written, so it shall be done.

A second term for President Barack Obama would allow him to expand his replacement of Republican-appointed majorities with Democratic ones on the nation’s appeals courts, the final stop for almost all challenged federal court rulings.

Despite his slow start in nominating judges and Republican delays in Senate confirmations, Obama has still managed to alter the balance of power on four of the nation’s 13 circuit courts of appeals. Given a second term, Obama could have the chance to install Democratic majorities on several others.

Fourteen of the 25 appeals court judges nominated by Obama replaced Republican appointees.

The next president, whether it’s Obama or a Republican, also has a reasonable shot at transforming the majority on the Supreme Court, because three justices representing the closely divided court’s liberal and conservative wings, as well as its center, will turn 80 before the next presidential term ends.

Unless we think that Romney, Gingrich, Santorum or Paul would appoint equally leftist, Alinskyite judges who could throw the balance of the courts way to the left for decades to come, there is at least one reason not to stay home on Election Day.

Don’t worry though — yesterday Obama said he’s getting “better as time goes on,” so I’m sure this is his way of telling us he’s getting more moderate.

All i ever hear you say is ‘i didnt find out or I cant say’ Im actually tired of hearing your double talk in answering questions. What a joke you are. You know my son was a real AMERICAN, a WARRIOR, and a HERO, who was also protecting COWARD POLITICANS like you.”

“Hope you remember that,” Mrs. Terry added in her message to Holder before signing it: “PROUD MOM OF BRIAN A. TERRY.”

A 33-year-old Phoenix man is being held by sheriff’s deputies in Phoenix in connection with an Internet death threat against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio for his ongoing investigation into the legitimacy of President Obama’s birth certificate.

Adam Eugene Cox was taken into custody at his home Friday by Phoenix deputies, along with sheriff’s officers from Knoxville, Tenn., on an unrelated warrant for assault and is being held as the prime suspect in the Arpaio death threat investigation, said Maricopa County Sheriff’s spokesman Jeffrey Sprong.

Deputies served a search warrant and seized a computer and other evidence from Mr. Cox‘ home. The alleged threat against Sheriff Arpaio came to light in October 2011 in which Mr. Cox reportedly said in an Internet posting that the sheriff and his family would be killed.

Maricopa County officials said the postings read, “I plan to kill Arpaio first. He will be filled with a thousand bullet holes before the year is out. I promise you this … He will be buried 10 feet under and his whole family will be murdered along with him.”

The officials said the postings also indicated that Mr. Cox is an avid supporter of Mr. Obama and that Sheriff Arpaio’s ongoing investigation into the legitimacy of Mr. Obama’s birth certificate may be behind the threat to kill the sheriff. They said Mr. Cox‘ mother confirmed that her son is an Obama supporter and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office said he has a history of assault.

Damn those violent Tea Partiers. They just refuse to tone down the rhetoric.

Joe Paterno, the iconic former Penn State football coach whose legend was tarnished when he was fired in the aftermath of the Jerry Sandusky scandal, has died, his family confirmed Sunday. He was 85.

Doctors had said Saturday that Paterno’s condition had become ”serious” in recent days after he experienced complications from lung cancer.

The winningest major-college football coach of all time with 409 victories and two national titles, Paterno was diagnosed shortly after Penn State’s Board of Trustees ousted him Nov. 9 following the child sex-abuse charges against Sandusky, his former assistant.
