Pair of mostly peaceful Ferguson protesters sentenced to 7 years in prison

I’m still waiting to see how many media outlets can work the words “mostly peaceful” into stories about these wannabe terrorists being sentenced to prison:

Two St. Louis men were ordered Thursday to spend seven years in federal prison for planning a foiled bomb attack targeting the Ferguson police chief, the county’s prosecutor and other officials after last year’s police shooting death of Michael Brown.

The sentences for Brandon Orlando Baldwin, 24, and Olajuwon Davis, 23 – identified by federal agents as New Black Panther Party members – mirrored those agreed upon by the men when they pleaded guilty in June to four felony counts, including conspiring to use explosives and making false written statements while buying firearms.

The men wanted to try to wreak greater havoc, but something was holding them back:

I’m tempted to say it should be a “red flag” if your bomb salesman tells you he’ll accept your girlfriend’s EBT as payment, but knowing what you can buy with SNAP cards these days maybe it’s not so out of the ordinary.

So how’s Obama’s plan to bring ISIS to its knees going?

Last year:

Today:

But I’m totally confident that the White House is correct when they claim their beloved Iran deal will degrade and ultimately eliminate Tehran’s ability to make a nuclear weapon.

Much of the MSM would like to ignore the elephant in the room in Garland, Texas; Updated

It’s looking more like the attempt at mass murder in Garland, Texas that left two would-be jihadists dead over the weekend had ISIS fingerprints on it:

But even still…

It seems like this evidence that ISIS’ reach now extends to the U.S. would be the big story, but a large segment of the press would rather blame radical Islam’s critics. Sticking their heads up their asses is easier than facing reality.

We’ll see how the MSM feels when the self-proclaimed “judge, jury and executioner” of speech is parked outside their doors — after the media has surrendered to them while blaming right-wing critics of Islamic extremism, of course.

Update:

In a statement, ISIS took “credit” for the Garland, Texas attempted attack that was thwarted, and said the terrorist group has dozens of “soldiers” in 15 states ready to carry out attacks.

On the other hand, the White House’s Josh Earnest called what happened in Garland a “lone wolf” attack.

So **who are you going to believe?

**Rhetorical question of the week sponsored by Max-Lite Ear Plugs — when you don’t need to hear the response to know what the answer is, make it Max-Lite!

Update II: If “journalism” were hockey, the AP would be serving a 10-minute major in the penalty box for this pathetic spin:

ISIS kills more Christians, threatens another 9/11, and Obama focuses on this ‘no greater threat’ that we face

ISIS is still on their murderous rampage. Here’s the latest:

They’re also calling for broader and more spectacular terrorist atrocities:

Meanwhile, Obama’s calling out the real threat the world faces:

These clowns still have over a year and a half left in office.

If only the world would have offered ‘Jihadi John’ some economic opportunity…

Last week, State Department spokesclown Marie Harf claimed that one ingredient in fighting terrorism is aiding in job creation so they have other opportunities and options. Obama agreed in an op-ed, writing that “the world has to offer today’s youth something better.”

If only this guy had been provided with some economic opportunity growing up:

The world knows him as “Jihadi John,” the masked man with a British accent who has beheaded several hostages held by the Islamic State and who taunts audiences in videos circulated widely online.

But his real name, according to friends and others familiar with his case, is Mohammed Emwazi, a Briton from a well-to-do family who grew up in West London and graduated from college with a degree in computer programming. He is believed to have traveled to Syria around 2012 and to have later joined the Islamic State, the group whose barbarity he has come to symbolize.

According to the Obama/State Department model, the poor kid never had a chance!

Mall of America worried their preferred method to repel potential terrorists won’t be effective?

The loose-lipped Department of Homeland Security Director Jeh Johnson (I long for the days of the warming confidence radiated by Janet Napolitano) said Sunday that shoppers at the Mall of America should be “particularly careful” because of a threat made against the MOA by Al-Shabaab.

Up to now, this is how the Mall of America was kept secure (via Doug Ross):

mallofamerica

This might shock you, but the authorities now think that might not be enough to deter terrorists.

The MOA has since beefed up security measures and isn’t only relying on the signs. Maybe the “gun free zone” signs should be re-enforced with State Department “violent extremism neighborhood watch” signs for an added layer of anti-terror protection.

The State Department obviously decided Obama’s ‘Countering Violent Extremism’ summit wasn’t quite embarrassing enough

The hashtag-happy bunch at the State Department are following up on President Obama’s “Countering Violent Extremism” summit with even more embarrassment:

Sounds like “PC neighborhood Watch” meets “midnight basketball.”

Anybody want to “mentor” a member of ISIS?

The State Dept. didn’t even advise communities to offer those identified as potential brutal mass killers reset buttons. What gives?

State Dept. spokesgenius on stopping spread of ISIS: We’ve got to help get these people job opportunities

 photo stooges_zpsubbzzcsu.jpg

Marie Harf at the State Department put the Obama anti-terror philosophy on full display last night. Even Chris Matthews couldn’t fully rationalize what she was saying:

MATTHEWS: Are we killing enough of them?

HARF: We’re killing a lot of them and we’re going to keep killing more of them. So are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs, whether —

MATTHEWS: We’re not going to be able to stop that in our lifetime or fifty lifetimes. There’s always going to be poor people. There’s always going to be poor muslims, and as long as there are poor Muslims, the trumpet’s blowing and they’ll join. We can’t stop that, can we?

HARF: We can work with countries around the world to help improve their governance. We can help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people…

In those videos ISIS releases before they behead or burn people alive, I must have missed the part where they issue a demand for a “good job at a fair wage.” To be this delusional is to also deny the simple reality that ISIS (and many other terrorists organizations for that matter) already have f*#kloads of money and are heavily financed. JOBS? They’ve got jobs, Marie, and those jobs are to kill “infidels.”

It’s hard to believe that the United States still exists with these people running things, but give them time.

Update:

That worldview isn’t Harf’s or Kerry’s alone. It drizzles from the top down, as Obama demonstrates in an op-ed published today:

More broadly, groups like al Qaeda and ISIL exploit the anger that festers when people feel that injustice and corruption leave them with no chance of improving their lives. The world has to offer today’s youth something better.

You see? It’s our fault.

Leave it to the community organizer-in-chief to turn religious fanaticism into a social justice problem.

Not the dumbest thing ever said on MSNBC, but tied for first with 5,000 others

Libs will always go out of their way to find a moral equivalence for Islamic terrorism. In this example, discover how a terrorist attack that left 12 dead in Paris isn’t all that different than Jerry Falwell’s lawsuit against Larry Flynt:

Got that? A defamation lawsuit filed by a Christian against a porno dirtbag = Islamists killing a dozen people in cold blood. It makes as much sense as almost anything else on MSNBC.

And then there were 127: Obama admin releases five more from Gitmo

Before Obama leaves office he’s determined to fulfill at least one campaign promise — unfortunately it’s the one that involves increasing the number of free-range terrorists:

Five men who were held for a dozen years at the U.S. Navy base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have been sent to the Central Asian nation of Kazakhstan for resettlement, the U.S. government announced Tuesday.

The two men from Tunisia and three from Yemen had been cleared for release from the prison by a government task force but could not be sent to their homelands. The U.S. has sent hundreds of prisoners from Guantanamo to third countries but this is the first time Kazakhstan has accepted any for resettlement.

Their release brings the prison population at Guantanamo to 127, according to a Pentagon statement.
[…]
Nearly 30 prisoners have been resettled in third countries this year as part of President Barack Obama’s renewed push to close the detention center over opposition from Congress.

The excuse they couldn’t be sent to their “homelands” is hilarious: Because of “unrest and militant activity.” In other words the Obama administration is saying it would be be like releasing somebody from the Betty Ford Clinic and sending them to live on Fremont Street in Vegas. Usually the truth is that their home countries don’t want them back.
