Here’s Wright’s version of the events leading up to the 2008 election:

“Man, the media ate me alive,” Wright told me when we met in his office at Chicago’s Kwame Nkrumah Academy. “After the media went ballistic on me, I received an e-mail offering me money not to preach at all until the November presidential election.”

“Who sent the e-mail?” I asked Wright.

“It was from one of Barack’s closest friends.”

“He offered you money?”

“Not directly,” Wright said. “He sent the offer to one of the members of the church, who sent it to me.”

“How much money did he offer you?”

“One hundred and fifty thousand dollars,” Wright said.

“Did Obama himself ever make an effort to see you?”

“Yes,” Wright said. “Barack said he wanted to meet me in secret, in a secure place. And I said, ‘You’re used to coming to my home, you’ve been here countless times, so what’s wrong with coming to my home?’ So we met in the living room of the parsonage of Trinity United Church of Christ, at South Pleasant Avenue right off 95th Street, just Barack and me. I don’t know if he had a wire on him. His security was outside somewhere.

“And one of the first things Barack said was, ‘I really wish you wouldn’t do any more public speaking until after the November election.’ He knew I had some speaking engagements lined up, and he said, ‘I wish you wouldn’t speak. It’s gonna hurt the campaign if you do that.”

Sure, in parts of the world this is known as “bribery,” but in Chicago politics it’s called a “silence stimulus.”

Gee, it seems as if people connected to politicians offering people money to stay quiet could be against campaign finance laws (if the money would have come from campaign coffers) — not that the MSM will care to dig any deeper on this.

But this was around the time that Jeremiah Wright’s church reportedly built him a $1.6 million retirement home with a $10 million line of credit. It’s possible Wright considered $150,000 to be chump change, so he kept on talking. Besides, the sycophantic mainstream media Obama lapdogs weren’t about to make a big deal out of anything in his past anyway.

Later today we’ll come back here to the family compound and try to locate that one egg that the kids still can’t find. The “Easter Bunny” can’t recall where he hid it either because the “Easter Bunny” was up a little too late last night.

–Dissecting an enormous ant colony.

–Saturday Night Live mocks Romney as a panderer. It was funny because as SNL was preparing that skit, Obama was shamelessly sucking up to a group of women.

–Bill Gates funds machine that turns toilet waste into drinkable water. Who wants to test it first?

–NBC has purportedly fired the producer (aka “fall guy”) who edited George Zimmerman’s 911 call to make him sound racist. Oh, and they said it was an “honest mistake.” Uh huh…

–Mike Huckabee launches a radio talk show on 200 stations tomorrow. He’ll go head-to-head against Rush Limbaugh — probably not for long though.

Follow “Jesus” where? Down to Zuccotti Park?

Newsweek does this kind of thing once in a while. Shortly before Easter seems to be a favored time of year.

I’ve asked Newsweek previously to prove they have a pair by daring to publish similar cover photos revolving around Muhammad along with stories like “What’s wrong with Islam?” Oddly enough that’s something the editors shy away from. Christianity and Christians, however — fair game.

(CNSNews.com) – Three days after President Barack Obama dispatched his ambassador to Afghanistan to hand deliver a personal letter from the president of the United States to Afghan President Hamid Karzai apologizing because U.S. forces at Bagram Air Force Base had mistakenly burnt some Korans, Karzai has responded to the gesture in a statement broadcast live on Afghan television.

Karzai, according to a BBC translation of his remarks made Sunday, told the Afghan people he was speaking to them after discussing the matter with “jihadi leaders,” “prominent scholars,” and Afghan elected officials, and that he spoke for the “pure sentiments” of the “Afghan nation” and the “Islamic world,” when he said: “We call on the US government to bring the perpetrators of the act to justice and put them on trial and punish them.”

At the same time Karzai was demanding the prosecution and punishment of U.S. troops involved in the Koran-burning incident, he conceded that the U.S. government had indicated that the Koran burning “was not deliberate.”

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if the apologetic administration was actually chewing on Karzai’s request.

Maybe Obama should demand an apology from Karzai for this and this.

Vice President Joe Biden said today he was confident the Obama administration could resolve concerns surrounding its decision to require most employers, including Catholic hospitals and charities, to offer health insurance that fully covers contraception.

“I am determined to see that this gets worked out, and I believe we can work it out,” Biden told WLW radio in Cincinnati today. “But the frustration … is real.”

The vice president said there had been “a lot of misunderstanding” about the administration’s decision, suggesting there had not been enough focus on the one-year time frame for employers to comply.

“There’s going to be a significant attempt to work this out, and there’s time to do that. And as a practicing Catholic, you know, I am of the view that this can be worked out and should be worked out and I think the president, I know the president, feels the same way,” Biden said.

We sure do “misunderstand” this administration a lot, don’t we? It’s a good thing they’re so much smarter than we are so they can work things through for us.

Unbelievably, Team Obama hasn’t yet found a way to blame George W. Bush for this controversy.

Update: The Washington Post reports that King Obama the Most Merciful will issue a decree today that includes accommodations for religious groups on the birth control mandate.

The administration came to this decision after being informed that Catholics actually vote. Who knew?
