Davison High School’s Hall of Fame is no Moore

The high school that Michael Moore attended in Michigan began an alumni Hall of Fame in the year 2000, and Moore has been nominated every year, and turned down every year. Now the induction process has been suspended because of the controversy.

Those who know him best remember Moore as a student who would protest at Davison’s main intersection wearing a sandwich board (which later, after appetite kicked in, the “sandwich” disappeared and all that remained was “board”), and who as a member of the school board would sit in on meetings and pick his toes. Go ahead… vomit… I’ll wait.

Back? Okay…

In the article, a former Davison mayor who wants Moore inducted into the Hall of Fame said:

“We live in a nation that offers support and dedicates lives to defending the right of others to speak out, and yet here we are trying to silence people.

“Do we not want to encourage our young people to be independent thinkers? Obviously not.”

So, if you’re against Moore being in that school’s Hall of Fame, you’re not an independent thinker?

I guess one way the Hall of Fame committee could satisfy that statement would be to do what the several hundred Moore supporters want, and let him in the Hall. Doing exactly what hundreds of people are lobbying you to do would be “independent thinking”, according to the former mayor. How do you know you’re politically left? Just walk in that direction, and you’ll know you’re there when the sheep stop being called sheep, and start being called “independent thinkers.”
