ABC To Air “Road to 9/11″ Miniseries, Democrat Response To Follow

The above title represents what I imagine will be the headline we may read after Bill Clinton’s people end up beating ABC into a compromise for airing a miniseries that is damning to former Clinton officials.

A “terribly wrong” miniseries about events leading to the Sept. 11 attacks blame President Clinton’s policies, former Clinton administration officials said in letters demanding that ABC correct it or not air it.

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger, Clinton Foundation head Bruce Lindsey and Clinton adviser Douglas Band wrote in the past week to Robert Iger, CEO of ABC’s parent The Walt Disney Co., to express concern over “The Path to 9/11.”

If there was ever the human equivalent of a car going 40 mph in the passing lane with the turn signal stuck forever in the “on” position, it’s Madeleine Albright, so I tend to believe just about any story of ineptitude I hear about her.

As for the rest, where’s the surprise? This bunch has either avoided or been able to deflect responsibility their entire lives, so why start now? They’re used to being able to strong-arm their problems away, and hopefully Iger at ABC has large biceps — and lives nowhere near Ft. Marcy Park.

What will happen? I fully expect – and I’m serious about this – “The Path to 9/11” to air followed closely by either a “Democrat response” of some sort, or an “equal time” program featuring either Clinton himself or former staffers giving their side of the story, which will be either “no we didn’t!” or “Nuh UH!”

ABC has already toned down scenes by request. Wow, that was easy, so there will be more to come.

Can you imagine a movie on Bush being sent back to the edit bay if any member of W’s administration complained? I didn’t think so.
