‘Must Read’ for the Weekend: Guns, the Constitution and the Swiss

In my opinion, there’s usually nothing more boring than an opinion columnist writing about the opinion of another opinion columnist. This is, of course, in addition to the fact that there’s nothing more redundant than an opinion columnist starting a sentence with “in my opinion…”

As a result, I try to refrain from commenting on or linking to columns by other commentators — unless they’re collossally stupid or amazingly insightful — and the latter is the case today.

Charley Reese has a fantastic analysis of the Second Amendment as well as Swiss gun nuts (now we know how they got the holes in the cheese) in his piece entitled Machiavelli Was Right. It’s well worth five minutes of your time this weekend — unless you’re already in the pool or hunched over the grill, then it can wait until tomorrow.
