Obama’s Muslim Apology Tour: The Difference Between ‘Outreach’ and ‘Reacharound’

Not long ago, President Obama said that the United States “is not a Christian nation.”

He was right. Because apparently America is a Muslim nation:

As President Obama prepared to leave Washington to fly to the Middle East, he conducted several television and radio interviews at the White House to frame the goals for a five-day trip, including the highly-anticipated speech Thursday at Cairo University in Egypt.

In an interview with Laura Haim on Canal Plus, a French television station, Mr. Obama noted that the United States also could be considered as “one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.” He sought to downplay the expectations of the speech, but he said he hoped the address would raise awareness about Muslims.

Wow. If Obama sucks up to Muslims any more they’re going to have to pour salt on him to get him to let go.

Would we ever hear Obama say that America is “one of the largest Christian nations in the world” in terms of numbers? Because it is — But there’s a better chance of Keith Olbermann taking Dick Cheney up on his hunting trip offer than there is of Obama saying that.

The U.S. has the largest number of Christians living in it of any country in the world, and yet according to Obama it’s “not a Christian nation” at all. But the U.S. is one of the largest Muslim nations in terms of numbers when only about two percent of its citizens are Muslims?

At least Obama is keeping it somewhat real. Lest you think the president overestimates his power to change people, he doesn’t:

“Now, I think it’s very important to understand that one speech is not going to solve all the problems in the Middle East,” Mr. Obama said. “And so I think expectations should be somewhat modest.”

True… it could take two speeches. The “international community” might view apologizing for all the world’s ills on behalf of America in just one speech as a sign weakness. That’s pragmatism the Middle East can believe in.

When Obama speaks in Egypt on Thursday, the world will no doubt hear volumes about his Muslim roots and experiences — facts Obama certainly didn’t offer during the campaign and a derelict-of-duty media was incapable of reporting over their drool buckets while in the throes of smitten leg thrills.

These facts wouldn’t bother me so much if they weren’t attached to a president who seems to believe that the only people who can handle the truth about him are halfway around the world and have a large measure of anti-American sentiment.

This Muslim “outreach” is turning into a reacharound right before our eyes, and that’s not the kind of “unclenched fist” that’s going to turn out well for America as we know it — er, knew it.
