Break out the tiny violins! U.N. tells member states to pay up because they’re running out of cash

What’ll they do about it? Repo Norway?

Not unlike some of the socialists they help keep propped up, the U.N. is finding out the universal truth that eventually the non-self-sustaining end up running out of somebody else’s money:

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says the U.N. is running out of money and is urging members to pay up amid a looming financial crisis for the international body.

In a letter to staff this week, seen by Fox News, Guterres says he has warned member states of a “troubling financial situation facing the United Nations,” which he says is caused by late payments to the U.N. by member states.

“Our cash flow has never been this low so early in the calendar year, and the broader trend is also concerning; we are running out of cash sooner and staying in the red longer,” he says.

The fundraising telethon should be hilarious! And what would the U.N. do to collect anyway? Repo Norway?

Gee, they had plenty of cash to make their NYC headquarters more “green”:

With the capital master plan in its final phase after nearly 15 years and an investment of $2.31 billion, the United Nations must take stock of lessons learned and best practices from the ambitious Headquarters renovation effort to guide the implementation plans of other capital projects and avoid losses, the Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary) heard today.

As much money as the U.N. burns through, my violin couldn’t get any tinier over news that they’re running out of cash.
