During Brett Kavanaugh’s powerful opening statement at Thursday’s hearing, he said that all of what’s going on has little-to-nothing to do with the truth about Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations and everything to do with pure foaming-at-the-mouth partisan politics. If you missed it, here it is:
Fast-forward the tape to Friday. Sen. Chris Murphy, responding after the Judiciary Committee voted to forward Kavanaugh’s nomination to the full Senate along with Jeff Flake’s insistence that a week is taken for the FBI to check out the accuser’s allegations, confirmed that it’s all about politics:
Yes, of course there should be an FBI investigation. But whatever they find doesn’t change the fact that Kavanaugh, especially after his performance yesterday, is the most dangerous Supreme Court pick of our lifetime.

Translated: There is nothing that will make Dems keep trying to delay the confirmation process. If a few Republicans keep playing along the whole party will be paying the price for the whooping they’ll get in November.
