Rangel Reportedly Cuts a Deal, Remains Stuck in Nancy Pelosi’s Swamp Drain

At this point I hope the Dems just let Rangel stay in the House — all they’re doing is giving the GOP huge bombs to throw back at them in the days leading up to the election:

NEW YORK (CBS): New York Congressman Charles Rangel has reportedly cut a deal to admit to ethical wrongdoing and avoid a potentially humiliating public trial.

Harlem friends of Rangel tell CBS 2 they have been told that the details could be unveiled when the House Ethics Committee meets Thursday afternoon.

It’s the culmination of two years of scandal for the 20-term Democratic lawmaker. At issue is whether the former head of the House Ways and Means committee will admit to any serious ethical wrongdoing. Rangel is being charged with misusing his office for fundraising, failure to disclose income, belated payment of taxes and possible help with a tax shelter for a company whose chief executive was a major donor.

By “drain the swamp” I’m now assuming that Nancy Pelosi was referring to our wallets instead of corrupt politicians.

Update: Ethics panel says no deal. Obviously everybody sat down and actually considered the political ramifications on top of what might already be a disastrous election for the Democrats.

Billion-Dollar Indian Casino Gets Heap Big ‘Stimulus’

Chris Dodd’s connected to this, so you just know it’s on the up-and-up:

With the support of Sen. Chris Dodd, D.-Conn., the federal government has awarded $54 million to Connecticut’s politically well-connected Mohegan Indian tribe, which operates one of the highest grossing casinos in the U.S.

The tribe runs the sprawling Mohegan Sun casino, halfway between New York City and Boston, which earned more than $1.3 billion in gross revenues in 2009. Each tribe member receives a cut of the profits, a number a tribal official said was “less than $30,000” per capita per year. The stimulus money is a loan from a U.S. Department of Agriculture rural development program that is meant to help communities of less than 20,000 people that have been “unable to obtain other credit at reasonable rates and terms and are unable to finance the proposed project from their own resources.”

That’s the beauty of the government… they lose our money gambling for us so we don’t have to take the time to do it ourselves. I’m sure Dodd’s excuse will be that Peter Minuit ripped off the indians for Manhattan so this is merely “fair” payback.

James O’Keefe Gets Hired As a Census Worker; Predictable Waste of Taxpayer Dollars Ensues

Big Government has the story of James O’Keefe, of “busting ACORN” fame, who got hired as a Census worker in New Jersey using his real name (these boneheads don’t read the news much, do they?).

To the credit of George Stephanopoulos, ABC’s Good Morning America had Breitbart and O’Keefe on the air to discuss the following recording, and most certainly this kind of thing is just the tip of the iceberg.

Your tax dollars at work — but often play:

The irony is that the Census Bureau dropped ACORN as a participant in the coordination of the count after O’Keefe’s ACORN-busting videos were made public. What will the Census Bureau do now that this video is out? Drop the Census Bureau?

If O’Keefe is found out and fired, he’ll probably be re-hired several more times just to the government can count each re-hiring as a “new job created.”
